Police received a report of a stolen semi-tractor from an industrial business area of the city on January 6, 2023. The semi-tractor was recovered at an industrial site in the Killam area. It appeared the thieves of the truck were attempting to steal copper wire from the industrial site with the tractor. The tractor got high centered and the semi-tractor was abandoned at that point.
An anonymous complaint was received of a disturbance at an apartment suite in the west end of the city. Police attended and located a male who had conditions not to be at the residence and he was subsequently arrested. He was lodged and later charged and released on one count of breach of probation.
Police would like to remind the public about Operation Cold Start which is an awareness campaign to try and curb idling vehicles that are left unattended as well as being unlocked. If a vehicle is located left unattended and running, Police will make attempts to contact the registered owner and make them aware of the risks. The operation hopes to educate the public to ultimately reduce the quantity of stolen vehicles during this cold snap.
