Break and enter
Police received a complaint of a city owned building that was broken into. Nothing was believed to have been stolen. This matter is still under investigation.
Assault
A 24-year-old male was served an Undertaking for an intimate partner assault in relation to an investigation on August 7th incident involving a female victim. The male subject was charged accordingly and was placed on conditions.
Horses on City sidewalk
A person reported seeing two people riding horses on a sidewalk. Police attended and located the riders and educated them on Camrose bylaws that state actively riding horses in the community has to be on a roadway.
Driving while unauthorized
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. The 52-year-old operator of the vehicle was determined to be driving with a suspended license. The male was issued a summons to appear in provincial court. The vehicle was towed.
Vehicle collision
A person reported a possible a vehicle collision with a pole. The person reporting indicated and they saw two people running off into the field. Police attended and located the vehicle abandoned. Police located the 24-year-old registered owner at the local hospital and determined him to be under the influence of alcohol. A blood demand was completed on the driver. The male was charged with Impaired Driving, Dangerous Driving and No Insurance. The male was released on documents to attend provincial court. An RPAS (drone) pilot attended the scene to photograph and check for any further evidence.
Assault
A person reported their roommate was causing issues inside the residence. Police attended and located the 64-year-old male subject inside the residence. The male was arrested for assault, transported to Camrose Police Service cells to be released when sober on an Undertaking with conditions of no contact and no alcohol.
August 16
Arson
Police dispatch received a 911 telephone call from a homeowner advising her ex-husband attempted to set the house on fire. Police attended and determined the scene presented as an arson. Information received indicated the 52-year-old male subject was at the local hospital. Police attended and arrested the intoxicated male subject. The male was charged with arson and appeared before a judge in a Judicial Interim Release which was adjourned to a later date.
Excessive noise complaint
Police received a complaint regarding a verbal dispute occurring outside a residential building. Police attended the subject area and determined two adult females, and an adult male were involved in an argument. Police provided advice regarding noise complaints and explained options available through the courts regarding restraining orders. No offences were disclosed.
Suspicious activity
A resident reported observing a male a bicycle between parked vehicles and appearing to check vehicle door handles. Police attended and conducted patrols of the area but were unable to locate the individual. CCTV footage was reviewed; however, the suspect could not be positively identified. The matter is still under investigation.
Trespass notice
Police responded to a local hotel after staff reported a male who had previously been directed to leave the property had returned and was refusing to leave. The 63-year-old male subject was issued a Trespass Notice for the property.
August 17
Outstanding warrants
A person reported a male attending a residence despite being prohibited from the property. Police located the 57-year-old male subject and confirmed he was breaching a previously issued Trespass Notice. Further investigation revealed he was also wanted on outstanding warrants. The male was arrested, lodged in Camrose Police Service cells pending release proceedings, and served with a new Trespass Notic for the property.
Missing phone
Police received a report of a missing cellular phone believed to have been left in the restroom of a local gas station. When the owner returned a short time later, the phone could not be located and staff advised it had not been turned in. This matter is still under investigation.
EMS assistance
Police assisted Emergency Medical Services with gaining entry to an apartment to access a patient requiring medical attention. Police gained entry and the individual was subsequently left in the care of EMS.
Break and Enter , vehicle theft and arson investigation
Police responded to a report of a break and enter at a local business where a white truck had been stolen. The stolen truck was reported to have struck another vehicle and crashed through a gate before fleeing the area.
Police located the stolen truck a short time later engulfed in flames, west of the city. Camrose Fire Department, the Camrose Police Service RPAS (drone) unit and the RCMP Police Dog Service assisted in the investigation. Evidence at the scene suggested the fire was intentionally set.
Following the investigation, including the review of CCTV footage and evidence recovered by police, a 31-year-old male was arrested and charged in relation to the incident. The accused was lodged in Camrose Police Service cells pending a judicial hearing.
Driving While Unauthorized
While continuing into the investigation of the stolen truck incident(above), police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle observed in the area. Investigation revealed the 30-year-old operator of the vehicle was operating the vehicle while his licence was provincially suspended. The subject of the vehicle was charged with Driving While Unauthorized and the vehicle was towed.
Causing disturbance
Police received several complaints regarding a male causing a disturbance in the Duggan Park area. Police located the 28-year-old male subject, who reported seeing a bear in the area. Patrols were conducted but no bear was located. Later in the evening, police received additional complaints involving the same subject. The male was arrested and lodged in Camrose Police Service cells until sober.
August 18
Contravening an Emergency Protection Order
Police received a complaint that a woman had attended a residence contrary to the condition of an Emergency Protection Order. Following an investigation the 25-year-old female attended the Camrose Police Service and was arrested for failing to comply with the order. She was later released on an Appearance Notice.
Outstanding warrant
Police observed a 42-year-old male subject wanted on an outstanding fraud-related warrant. The male was arrested, processed and released on an Undertaking.
Break and Enter
A local business reported a break and enter that occurred over the weekend. Investigation determined entry was gained through a broken window and a three-wheel bicycle was stolen. This matter is still under investigation.
Vehicle collision with minor injury
Police attended a two-vehicle collision on 65 Street. Investigation determined one vehicle was exiting a parking lot when it collided with a northbound vehicle. Emergency Medical Services assessed both operators of the vehicles involved, determining one sustained minor injury. The 26-year-old operator of the vehicle exiting the parking lot was charged with failing to proceed safely after stopping at an intersection.
Disturbing behaviour
Police received a report that an intoxicated male was acting suspiciously and causing concern in an alleyway. Police located the 32-year-old male, who initially refused to identify himself. Following police intervention, the male was identified and safely transported home.
August 19
Breach of Peace
Police responded to reports of a verbally aggressive male at a residence in the 4200 Block of 66 Street. While police attempted to issue a Trespass Notice, the male became uncooperative. The 47-year-old male was arrested for Breach of Peace, lodged in Camrose Police Service cells until sober and later issued a Trespass Notice.
August 20
Warrant arrest
During a traffic stop for a vehicle equipment violation, police determined the operator of the vehicle was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The 42-year-old male was arrested and transported to Camrose Police Service cells where he later resolved the warrant and was released.
August 21
Unwanted person
Staff of a local hotel requested police assistance regarding a male sleeping inside a dumpster on the property. Police attended, identified the male subject, who then left the area without incident.
Theft
A representative of a local business reported a theft from a secured compound. Investigation revealed a propane tank and extension cord had been stolen over a period of several days. CCTV footage was obtained. The matter is still under investigation.
Motor vehicle collision
Police attended a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 50 Street and Camrose Drive. Approximately $2500 in damage was sustained and no injuries were reported. The collision remains under investigation.
Causing a disturbance and warrant arrest
Police responded to complaint of a disturbance at the Mirror Lake gazebo. Police attended and located a 45-year-old male who was found to be wanted on an Edmonton Police Service warrant. The male was arrested, lodged in Camrose Police Service cells to prevent a breach of peace, released on an Appearance Notice and issued several violation tickets.
August 22
Breach of curfew
During proactive patrol, police stopped a 28-year-old female known to police. Investigation determined she was breaching court-ordered curfew conditions and was in possession of prohibited drug paraphernalia contrary to her release conditions. She was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
August 23
Breach of No Contact Order
Police received information that a female had received communication indirectly from a male who was subject to a no-contact condition. Following investigation, the 52-yar-old male was charged with breaching the court-ordered condition.
Nightshift
Prevent Breach of Peace
Staff from a local hotel requested assistance with an intoxicated female who was causing problems with other patrons. Police arrested the 35-year-old female to prevent a breach of peace. The female was lodged in Camrose Police Service cells until sober.
Breaching an Emergency Protection Order
Police received a complaint that a female had repeatedly contacted and attended a victim’s residence contrary to an Emergency Protection Order. Police located and arrested the 25-year-old female, who was subsequently charged with three counts of breaching the order. The female subject was later released following a judicial hearing.
August 24
Outstanding warrant
Police responded to a report involving two males allegedly entering a residence without permission. Police later located and arrested a 19-year-old male who was wanted on outstanding warrants from another jurisdiction. The male subject was released on an Appearance Notice.
Stolen vehicle
Police investigated a report of a stolen vehicle taken from behind a local motel. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned a short distance from the scene. Despite extensive patrols a suspect was not located. This matter is still under investigation.
Public Intoxication
Police responded to several telephone calls from a female reporting she had injured herself. After repeated interactions and concerns regarding the 39-year-old female subject’s level of intoxication, police arrested her for public intoxication. The female was transported to Camrose Police Service cells and lodged until sober.
August 25
Hit and run
Police received a report of a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle in the drive-through of a local restaurant. The damaged vehicle was towed from the scene. Police gathered video surveillance and the matter remains under investigation.
