Notable incidents

Break and enter mailboxes

A person reported mailboxes at their apartment building had been broken into and contents removed. This matter is still under investigation.

Assault

A person reported a possible assault occurring at their neighbour’s residence between a male and female. Police attended and spoke with both parties to investigate the assault allegation. While dealing with the male subject he became aggressive and combative. The male was arrested and the female tried to intervene with the arrest and she was placed into handcuffs for obstruction. Both the male and female were transported to Camrose Police Service. At the conclusion of the investigation, the 29-year-old male was charged with Resisting Arrest. The female was release without charges.

Excessive speeds

Police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle for excessive speed (100 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone.) The vehicle initially fled from police but then eventually came to a stop. The 46-year-old female operator of the vehicle failed an Alcohol Screening Device test and was issued violation tickets and transported to Camrose Police Service. The female was charged with Immediate Roadside Sanction fail and Criminal Flight and released on an Appearance Notice. The vehicle was seized.

Assault

A person reported a possible assault occurring at their neighbour’s residence. A second call was received from a female at the subject residence indicting they were being assaulted. Police attended and spoke with the victim of the assault. The 60-year-old male was arrested for domestic assault and transported to Camrose Police Service. The male set over his release hearing and remained in custody to appear in Provincial Court at a  later to determine his release.

Theft of tires and rims

A person reported that within the past two weeks a fence at a local business had been cut and several tires and rims stolen, valued at approximately $10,000. This matter is still under investigation.

Scam

A person reported being scammed out of approximately $2200 from their bank account by someone on telephone alleging to be with a credit card company. This matter remains under investigation.

Police remind residents to be vigilant about possible scams from people telephoning and alleging to be with not-for-profits, banks, credit card companies and other organizations. NEVER give out personal information. Hang up and contact the legitimate organizations to confirm.

Breach of conditions

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a mismatched licence plate. The male operator of the vehicle was determined to be in breach of court conditions in relation to a robbery, fail to remain at scene of a collision, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon, out of Medicine Hat. A search of the vehicle revealed knives contrary to the subject’s weapon condition. The male was arrested for beaching his court ordered conditions and was issued violation tickets. The vehicle was towed. He set over his Judicial Interim Release Hearing and remained in custody.

Assault

A person reported a disturbance between a male and female at a local motel. The youth female attended Camrose Police Service front counter wearing scant clothing and bearing a bloody mouth. Police attended the motel and located the 18-year-old male subject and charged him with two counts of Assault by Choking, two counts of Assault by Strangulation, two counts of Assault, Forcible Confinement and Uttering Threats. He set over his Judicial Interim Release hearing and remained in custody.

Uttering threats

A person reported a male subject threatening, with a knife, a male and female. Police attended the subject location and spoke with the female and male victims who provided police with a description and name of the male subject. Police located and arrested the 20-year-old male subject. Incident to arrest police located a knife on the male subject’s person. The male subject was charged with two counts of Uttering Threats, two counts of Assault With a Weapon and two counts of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purposes. He had a Judicial Interim Release Hearing and was released on a Release Order.
