A theft of a truck in progress was reported from an east end business. It was determined that subjects in another stolen vehicle from another city entered the yard of a business, attempted to steal a truck, and then stole a different vehicle ramming through a fence as they were fleeing. The two stolen vehicles then fled eastbound out of Camrose. RCMP later recovered one of the stolen vehicles, the one stolen from Camrose is still outstanding. Police have seen a dramatic increase of stolen vehicles in 2024. Trucks have primarily been targeted and recently there has been a rash of stolen vehicles from businesses on the east end of Camrose. Vehicle owners and businesses are being recommended to take extra precautions such as locking vehicles indoors (if possible), using anti-theft devices, always locking a vehicle when it is unattended, and parking vehicles under well-lit and (if possible) areas with video surveillance.
