April 26

Property Damage Incident

The Police Service received a report of damage to a vehicle in a downtown parking lot. The responsible party remains unknown due to the absence of surveillance cameras in the area. The incident is currently under investigation.

Impaired Driving Incident

During a routine traffic stop, a driver exhibited signs of impairment and subsequently failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST). As a result, the driver was issued a 24-hour suspension.

Impaired Driving Incidents

On April 27, the Police Service conducted several traffic stops resulting in the identification of impaired drivers:

  • A female driver displayed signs of impairment during a routine traffic stop and failed an Approved Screening Device (ASD) test, resulting in an Immediate Roadside Suspension (IRS).
  • Another female driver exhibited signs of impairment and refused to participate in an ASD test. Consequently, she received an IRS and her vehicle was towed.
  • A male driver showed signs of impairment and blew a warning during an ASD test. He received a three-day driving suspension, and his vehicle was towed. Additionally, he was issued a violation ticket for transporting cannabis in a vehicle with easy access to the driver.

Theft from Motor Vehicle

A female reported the theft of her license plate from her vehicle in the downtown area. This incident is currently under investigation.

Theft, Forgery, and Misuse of Credit Card Incident

The Police Service received a report from a downtown business regarding an individual attempting to pay with a stolen credit card. Upon arrival, the Police discovered a 33-year-old female and a 30-year-old male who provided false names. Through investigation, the female’s correct identity was determined, as her purse was found nearby containing numerous stolen items such as driver’s licenses and bank cards. The male was found to have warrants from the Calgary Police Service. The male faced 26 charges and was remanded into custody. Consequently, the female was charged with 28 offenses and was remanded into custody.
