Notable Incidents
On June 16, 2026, at approximately 5:00 a.m., the Camrose Police Service responded to a report of a firearms offence in the 4300 block of 65 Street. Initial information indicated that a male suspect had unlawfully entered a residence, assaulted an occupant and during a physical altercation, pointed a handgun at the victim. A mutual acquaintance intervened, at which point the suspect fled the residence.
Police attended the scene, contained the residence, and subsequently located and arrested the suspect without incident inside the home.
A search warrant was later executed at the residence, where investigators identified evidence suggesting a firearm had recently been present.
Continued investigation led officers to a rural property in Camrose County, where a handgun and an additional weapon were seized.
Leslie THOMPSON (30), of Camrose, Alberta, has been charged with the following offences:
· Using a Firearm to Commit an Indictable Offence
· Pointing a Firearm
· Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public
· Assault
· Uttering Threats
· Break and Enter
THOMPSON has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court
Stolen bicycle
A person reported their bicycle stolen outside a downtown business. This matter is still under investigation.
Suspended driver
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by a suspended driver. The male operator of the vehicle was issued a violation ticket and the vehicle was seized.
Break and enter and commit theft from trailer
A person reported a break and enter at a business compound and their trailer was broke into with items stolen, including a battery. This incident occurred over the past 6 months.
Arrest on warrant
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by a person on warrant. The male operator was arrested on the outstanding warrant. The male was also issued an Immediate Roadside Sanction and violation tickets.
Intoxicated and causing a disturbance
A person reported a female was causing a disturbance. Police attended and dealt with the 37-year-old female subject who was intoxicated and uncooperative. The female was apprehended for Breach of Peace and housed in Camrose Police Service cells until sober.
Impaired and assault
A person reported a known male subject was driving while impaired and the subject had assaulted the person reporting. Police located and arrested the male. The male was housed in Camrose Police Service cells pending charges of assault and uttering threats.
Impaired driver
Staff of a local lounge reported a possible impaired person left operating a motor vehicle (description provided.) Police located the subject vehicle and conducted a Mandatory Alcohol Screening test on the male operator of the vehicle, which he failed. The vehicle was towed.
