Notable Incidents
Causing disturbance
Police received several 911 calls regarding a male causing a disturbance by screaming and yelling in the downtown area. Police (including PACT team) attended, located and arrested a 34-year-old male. The male was issued violation tickets for Causing a Disturbance by screaming and shouting in public.
Trespassing
A person reported a male trespassing on a property located in the area of 49 Street and 4700 Block. Police attended and observed a male (known to police) flee the area, evading police. Police later located and arrested the 45-year-old male subject who was charged with obstruction and breach of probation.
Attempt fraud
A person reported an unknown person forged a cheque (belonging to the person reporting), stolen earlier from their vehicle while it was parked at a local hotel. The cheque was stopped by the bank and no funds were lost. This matter is still under investigation.
Driving complaint
A person reported a vehicle (description and licence plate number provided) driving unsafely in a school parking lot. Police identified the registered owner who indicated their son was driving the vehicle at the time of the complaint. Police spoke to and warned the son.
Public intoxication
Police observed two males involved in a dispute in a public place. Police arrested a 30-year-old male for public intoxication, he was transported to Camrose Police Service cells and released when sober.
Dogs at large
A person reported finding two dogs at large, taking them to their own residence awaiting police attendance. Police attended and took the dogs to a shelter.
Causing issues
A representative from a local retail business reported a male causing issues and making threatening comments. Police located the 66-year-old male subject and served him with a trespass notice.
Found scooter
An employee of a local retail store reported a mobility scooter left at the side of the business building. Police attended and seized the scooter for safe keeping.
Stolen bike
A person from a local church reported a bike left on church property (possibly stolen.) Police attended and notified the bike owner who retrieved the bike.
Speeding
A person reported a vehicle (description provided) speeding in the area of 60 Street and 55 Avenue. Police determined, contacted and warned the registered owner.
Noice concern
A person reported a car horn engaging for a long period. Police determined the registered owner who was issued a ticket for excessive noise.
Refuse to leave premises/outstanding warrant
A representative of a local motel reported an evicted tenant would not leave the property. Police attended and served the 27-year-old tenant and one other person with a trespass notice. One other 24-year-old female was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
Noise concern
A person reported excessive noise coming from a neighbouring garage at 3 a.m. Police attended and asked the 38-year-old male subject of the noise complaint to shut down the activity and noise.
Refuse to leave
A person requested police assistance in getting a known male to leave their premises. Police located the 25-year-old male subject who was too intoxicated to care for himself so was transported and housed in Camrose Police Service cells until sober.
On a separate occasion St. Mary’s Hospital security staff requested police assistance with removing a 56-year-old male refusing to leave the property. Police attended and assisted the male subject in leaving.
Damage to vehicle
A person reported the back window of their vehicle was smashed by a rock while the vehicle was parked at a local motel.
Stolen phone
A person (youth) reported their cellular phone was stolen from a locker at the Aquatic Centre by someone known to them. Police located and spoke with the youth suspect and their mother. The youth suspect admitted to stealing the phone and disposing of it in a garbage can. The youth subject was warned and the phone was located and returned to the owner.
Theft
A representative of a local retail business reported a 55-year-old female stole $100 worth of product from the business. The female was issued a trespass notice and the product was returned to the business.
Possible fraud
A person reported sending a large amount of money to an untraceable location after the caller was impersonating a relative.
Police warn the public on transferring money and gift cards to believed family and friends at the time. Always verify with other family or friends prior to sending any money to others.
Dog attack
A person reported their dog broke loose of their care while walking, chased and attacked a cat on private property. Camrose Community Peace Officer continues investigating the incident.
Excessive barking
A person reported two dogs in a residential backyard in the area of 34 Avenue and 6500 Block, barking excessively. Police attended and verified two dogs barking but no safety concerns. Police attempted to contact the owner of the dogs, unsuccessfully. This matter is still under investigation.
Breaching curfew
Police observed a 40-year-old male breaching his curfew. Police arrested and transported the male to Camrose Police Service cells.
No insurance
A person reported two vehicles revving engines in a local retail parking lot. Police located the subject vehicles and checks indicated one vehicle had mismatched licence plates and no insurance. The operator of the vehicle was issued violation tickets and the vehicle was towed.
Causing disturbance
A person reported a male subject causing a disturbance outside a local not-for-profit organization. Police located a 34-year-old male subject (known to police) nearby. The male was arrested and later released with a trespass notice. Shortly after the male was released, he was observed kicking the bay door of the Camrose Police Service (no damage.) The male was issued violation tickets and sent on his way.
Damage to property
A person reported the fuel tank of their vehicle had been drilled while parked in the area of 54 Avenue and 5100 Block.
