Camrose Police Service and Wetaskiwin RCMP team up to arrest repeat offenders

 On April 10, 2024, at approx.. 8 a.m. officers of the Camrose Police Service while investigating a report of theft of fuel, observed a suspicious Ford F350. As the officer turned around to catch up to the suspect vehicle , it immediately fled at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to maintain a visual and observed the truck as it stopped along a tree line of Range Road 210 and Township road 472. Camrose Police set  up containment in the area and asked the RCMP for assistance.

Officers from Wetaskiwin RCMP arrived as well as RCMP Police Dog Services. RCMP deployed a drone a well as a police dog. Police were successful in locating two suspects.

Camrose Police have charged Edmonton resident Jason Peter Emter (49) with:

  • Flight from police
  • Dangerous driving
  • Possession stolen property over $5000;
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000;
  • Possession of break-in tools;
  • Possession of a controlled substance.

Emter was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released with his next court date set for May 18, 2024.

A 54 year old female was also released for court on May 29th, and charges are being prepared for:

  • Possession stolen property over $5000;
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000;
  • Possession of break in instruments.

“This was a great example of two police force working in tandem to support one another in fighting rural theft”, states Inspector John Corbett of the Camrose Police Service, and Inspector John Spaans of the Wetaskiwin-Camrose RCMP.  

Domestic Assault

Police received a report from a female that she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. The male was located and arrested for the assault and brought back to cells. Male was uncooperative, intoxicated and was released when sober on an undertaking.

Theft of Bikes

A report was received of a break and enter into a locked shed from a downtown location. Police attended and determined bikes were stolen. Incident is still under investigation. Police located one of the stolen bikes.

Theft from Vehicle

A locked vehicle was broken into in the downtown area where a purse was stolen. Police will be looking into surveillance in the area.
