Working with school on recent social media posts

Our police service is aware of social media posts circulating that involve students from a local high school and contain content that may be considered inappropriate, harmful, and in some cases, potentially harassment or bullying.

We take matters involving the safety and well-being of youth very seriously. We are actively working in partnership with the school division, administration, and staff to review the situation and ensure it is addressed appropriately.

At this time, we encourage students, parents, and community members to refrain from sharing or amplifying the content, as doing so may contribute to further harm. We also remind everyone that online behaviour can have real-world consequences, both socially and legally.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about responsible online conduct and respectful communication.

If anyone has information that may assist, or if a student feels they are being targeted or unsafe, we encourage them to reach out to school staff or contact police.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation as we work together to promote a safe, respectful environment for all students.
