Safety is in Your Hands

Camrose Police Service participated in a Canada-wide campaign” Safety is in Your Hands”, reminding citizens that safety is everyone’s’ responsibility.

Before you head out, make sure you’re:

· alert and well-rested,

· sober,

· connected, hands-free and distraction-free,

· calm and focused behind the wheel, and

· buckled up.

As a driver, your choices help keep everyone on the road safe. Please do your part to help ensure all road users get home safely.

In 2025, police services across Canada reported nearly 67,400 alcohol-and drug-impaired driving offences.

Drive Sober

Camrose Police Service joined law enforcement agencies across Canada during the Safety is in Your Hands campaign to remind all drivers to never drive while impaired.

In 2025, alcohol and drug impairment contributed to dozens of fatal collisions across Canada. These deaths were preventable.

Hundreds of collisions causing injuries in Canada last year involved alcohol or drugs.

Driving sober is the only safe choice, plan ahead;

-ride-share,

-taxi.

-public transit where available, or

-designated driver.

There are plenty of safe ways to get home that don’t involve driving impaired.

If you suspect a driver is impaired, call 911 immediately.

Drive alert and well rested

Camrose Police Service reminds drivers that driving while fatigued could be as dangerous as driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

Fatigue can impair judgment, reaction time and driving performance.

-Feeling tired? Pull over and take a break. Arriving late is better than not arriving at all.

-Long drive ahead? Plan time to rest and recharge.

-If you’re struggling to keep your eyes open, drifting between lanes or missing road signs, it’s time to take a break. Pull over safely and rest.

-Put the phone away and focus on the road.

Safety is in your hands and requires your full attention.

Dangerous driving habits

Camrose Police Service, in keeping with the Canada-wide, Safety is in Your Hands campaign, passes on the following message about dangerous driving habits, in hopes that everyone gets home safe.

Dangerous driving contributed to 139 fatal collisions and 556 injuries in Canada in 2025. Focus on your driving:

-Texting, watching videos, or scrolling through your playlist can wait. Driving can’t.

-Keep your eyes on the road, your hands on the wheel, and your mind on driving. Whatever is competing for your attention can wait until you’ve arrived safely.

-Stay focused behind the wheel.

-Slow down, leave plenty of space and help everyone get to their destination safely.

-Tailgating, speeding, unsafe lane changes, and running red lights aren’t worth the risk.

We are also reminding drivers and passengers to buckle up. Seatbelts save lives.

Before you drive away, do a quick check: Is everyone buckled up?

Safety is in Your Hands. Let’s ensure everyone makes it home safely every day.
