Camrose Police Service 911 Dispatch Centre
Each year during the second week of April, National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week provides an opportunity to recognize the dedicated professionals who serve as the first link between the public and emergency services. At the Camrose Police Service 911 Dispatch Centre, this week is an important moment to acknowledge the skill, compassion, and professionalism demonstrated by our telecommunicators every day.
Operating around the clock, Camrose Police Service telecommunicators are often the calm and steady voice during moments of crisis. In 2025 alone, the dispatch center handled 36,425 total calls, including 9,314 emergency 911 calls. These calls resulted in 4,292 police dispatches and 831 fire dispatches, underscoring the critical role dispatch plays in coordinating timely and effective emergency responses within our community.
Telecommunicators must make rapid, informed decisions while managing high‑pressure situations, gathering critical information, and supporting both the public and first responders. Their work directly contributes to officer and responder safety, as well as positive outcomes for those seeking assistance. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, the impact of their efforts is felt throughout Camrose every day.
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is a time not only for public recognition, but also for internal appreciation—acknowledging the teamwork, resilience, and professionalism that define the Camrose Police Service 911 Dispatch Centre. Whether through words of thanks, peer recognition, or simply taking time to acknowledge one another’s contributions, this week reminds us of the importance of this vital profession.
The Camrose Police Service extends its sincere appreciation to all of our 911 telecommunicators for their dedication and service. Your commitment helps keep our community safe and supported, and your work is essential to the public safety mission of Camrose.
