Assault suspect located

Police located the male suspect involved in the assault on police officer (August 31). The suspect brandished a knife and threatened officers, fled on foot and tried to gain access to a police vehicle. Police deployed taser on suspect who was arrested and brought before a Justice of the Peace. A bail hearing was set for September 3.

September 2

Attempt Grandparent Scam

A resident reported receiving a call from someone pretending to be their grandson who had been in an accident, was arrested for having drugs in their vehicle. The resident began asking questions and the caller hung up.

Open Liquor and suspended driver

A traffic stop on a suspended driver resulted in violation ticket to passenger of vehicle for open liquor in a motor vehicle and violation ticket to driver for suspended driving.

Fail to stop

A traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle failing to stop for a stop sign. The 43-year-old female driver registered a fail on the roadside screening device. The vehicle was towed and the female was also issued a violation ticket.

Possible investment scam

A resident reported investing money as a result of an advertisement she saw and is now receiving several emails and calls regarding the money.  Matter still under investigation.

September 6

Possession of stolen medical products

Staff at Smith Clinic reported a person suspected of carrying a weapon. Police located male and attempted to stop him. The male fled (on bicycle) with police, quickly arresting the male. Male was found in possession of stolen medical products. Male was charged with theft, three counts of breach, obstruction and failing to stop for police.

Suspicious item

Property Representative for Gemini Centre reported a coffee cup sitting on the steps near the third floor and was concerned someone was in the building (after hours). Officers responded and cleared the building.
