Collision

A 911 call reported a collision involving two vehicles at 50 Street and 3900 Block. One vehicle rolled with airbags deployed. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. Driver of the offending vehicle failed an Alcohol Screening Device test and was charged criminally with dangerous driving and impaired driving

Harassing staff

Staff of a local restaurant reported a male harassing employees and requested the male be issued a trespass notice. 

Dognapping

A person reported, while walking their dog at Mirror Lake, an unknown male grabbed the dog leash and ran off with the dog. The dog slipped out of its collar and ran away so the male dropped the leash and ran. Matter is still under investigation.

Collision

A 911 call reported a truck that collided with a baby stroller on 48 Avenue. Police located person(s) with stroller and determined the stroller (with baby) had been struck. The baby was transported by EMS to St. Mary’s Hospital. Police determined the identity of the offending truck driver and that they had turned left onto 40 Avenue striking the stroller. The driver of the truck was issued a ticket for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. The child was treated for minor injury and released from hospital.

Assault

A report of an assault occurring at the skate park resulted in the offender being issued a trespass notice and further investigation.

Credit card misuse and fraud

A female was arrested and charged with misuse of credit card and fraud as a result of stealing money from their relatives account.

Stolen tires

A person reported their winter tires were stolen from the back of their truck which was parked in the area of 4904 49 Street.

Scam

A person reported being victimized out of $3,000 in a scam alleging to be Stars Air Ambulance indicating the victim had won a vehicle valued at $95,000 but she first needed to deposit $3,000 to a bank account. The victim completed a money wire.

Police are continuing to investigate however remind citizens that if something seems too good to be true it likely isn’t true. Hang up and call police.

Stolen tools

A person reported tools, including a DeWalt impact driver with battery and bandsaw with battery was stolen from the box of their truck in the area of 3808 69 Street.

Mischief and damage

Police responded to several reports of mischief and damage to property including a smashed glass window at a local business and a smashed vehicle windshield in the area of 5815 48 A Avenue.

Counterfeit $20

A local retail business reported suspected counterfeit $20 bill. Police attended the business and confirmed the bill was counterfeit, seized the bill to be sent away for analysis.

Break and Enter

A business owner reported a broken glass door at their business and observing via CCTV surveillance an unknown person with a dog unlawfully inside the business. Police attended the business and confirmed a smashed door. The RCMP K9 unit was deployed and the building was thoroughly searched, suspect not inside however there was extensive damage to the building property. Investigation continues.

Damage to vehicle

A person reported the exhaust on their vehicle had been cut off.

Brandish Mace

St. Mary’s Hospital security reported they had asked a male to leave the hospital for loitering and the male brandished Mace at them, threatening them. Police located and arrested the male.

Youth robbery

A youth jumped into Mirror Lake to get away from a group of three male youths wearing masks and threatening the victim to give them money. The suspects were identified by police and arrested for Robbery and Using a Disguise.   See Camrose Police Service Facebook page for complete details.

Theft from storage unit

A person reported their storage unit was broken into and clothes and a 5th wheel hitch was stolen.

Scam

A person reported losing $9,500 through fraudulent bank transfers. After receiving a text advising the victim of alleged suspicious activity on their accounts the victim clicked on a link, but soon felt the questions they were being asked were suspicious so contacted their bank and was told several transactions had already occurred from their bank account.

Scam

A person reported being the victim of a fraud involving the caller alleging to be with STARS Lottery and that the victim was the winner, but she first needed to obtain $400 in gift cards, which she did.

Police remind residents to be vigilant about telephone calls that allege they have won money or a prize but need to first transfer money or gift cards.  This is a scam.  Hang up and contact police.

Assault

Police responded to a report of an assault involving two males. One male was arrested for two counts of assault and breach of a “no alcohol” condition.

24 hour driving suspension

Police conducted a vehicle stop on a vehicle with an expired licence plate. Police determined the driver to be under the influence of drugs and conducted a Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) which the driver failed. Police issued a 24-hour suspension, the vehicle was towed and a ticket issued to driver for failing to provide a drivers licence.

Theft from trailer

A person reported their enclosed work trailer was broken into in the area of 5903 28 Avenue and a drill, mitre saw and shopvac were stolen. As well the trailer was damaged.

Fire in valley

Police responded to a fire in the valley in close proximity to the train trestle. CN was notified and train operations were halted on those tracks. The Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) (drone) was deployed to conduct extensive patrols of the area in an effort to locate any person(s) of interest. The RPAS located heat sources near an unlawful encampment. Police located two persons at the encampment. Investigation by Camrose Police Service and Camrose Fire Department continues.

Found mountain bike

A person attended the police station with a Karakoram GT Sport mountain bike they had found leaning up against their property fence.

Another valley fire

Multiple calls were received reporting another fire in the valley just south of Camrose Drive bridge and 50 Street. Police attended and noted the fire, which was reported as moderate in size, was difficult to access by emergency personnel. The fire was extinguished and a search of the area revealed an unlawful encampment which was vacant.  This incident is still under investigation by Camrose Police Service, Camrose Fire Department and the City of Camrose.

Collision

A person reported being involved in a vehicle collision while driving southbound on 48 Street. The person reported that another vehicle, driving westbound, failed to stop at a stop sign on 51 Avenue. There was damage to both vehicles which were towed. The operator of the westbound vehicle was issued a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.
