Telephone scam
A person reported being scammed out of $7,500 through a telephone scam where the caller claimed to be with the Bank of Montreal.
Collision
A person reported a collision at 4911 50 Street, where an unoccupied motor vehicle struck a retail business window. While police were on route to the site of the incident, the operator of the subject vehicle returned and later provided information to the police.
Erratic driving
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being operated erratically. The operator of the vehicle showed no signs of impairment but was charged with a traffic offence. A relative of the operator was called to scene to drive the operator home.
Collision
A person reported a collision with the vehicle they were operating when another vehicle moved into their lane and struck their vehicle. Police determined the damage to the reporting person’s vehicle was under $1,000. The matter was settled between the operators of both vehicles.
Assault
A person reported being assaulted by a known suspect who had broken into the reporting person’s residence and stole some items. The person reporting indicated the suspect was in possession of a BB rifle and BB handgun.
Erratic driving
A person reported two vehicles driving erratically. Police located the subject vehicles. The operator of one of the vehicles was given a Field Sobriety Test resulting in a fail. The operator was charged with careless driving and issued an Administrative Penalty Information System driving suspension. The vehicle was towed. The operator of the other vehicle was charged with careless driving.
Unregistered/uninsured vehicle
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for vehicle equipment concerns (use of dealer licence plates.) Police determined the vehicle, which was recently purchased by the operator, had not been properly insured and registered as per requirements after purchase. The operator was charged, the dealer licence plate was seized and the vehicle was towed.
Misuse of licence plates
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for misuse of licence plates. The operator of the vehicle was charged with invalid insurance.
Collision
A two motor vehicle collision occurred at 51 Street and 48 Avenue.
Police would like to remind citizens to slow down and use extreme caution especially during inclement weather conditions when roads become very hazardous.
